September Again…
|
02 Sep 2008

Ah! Where do it go? Summer that is…That wondrous time of year that us Northerner’s look forward to all winter long…when we get to shed our outer shells and bask in the heat of the sun’s glow and for a little while all seems right with the world…hanging out with friends at backyard BBQ’s and outdoor patios….taking in the sounds of music at outdoors fairs and festivals…spending time on the water…the sounds of laughter ringing in the air…
Come and gone…another summer come and gone…one more time ‘round the sun to mark the passage of time…and it seemed to go quite quickly this year…even the kids commented on how short it felt…now their back in school…first day…
The summer that I had was a great one…had some of the most fun playing shows this year that I’ve had in a long time…the band was great…firing on all cylinders…and the reception we got everywhere we went was welcoming, enthusiastic, appreciative and overwhelming…we saw some old fans, made some new ones and quite honestly wish the summer didn’t have to end…
I got to travel all over the country with the band, by myself and with my two boys who got spend some time in Penticton, BC hanging out with my agent Jim Cressman and his wife Kristie, Johnny Reid, Aaron Pritchett and his wife, Jesse Farrell and of course the amazing Ron Sakamoto and his wife Joyce…it was an outing organized by Jim for us all to get together and have some down time…with wine tasting tours, parasailing, boating tubing…knee-boarding and generally relaxing in the 35degree weather they had for us…and it wouldn’t have been complete without taking the boys to the West Edmonton Mall…they had a riot…
To all of you wonderfully supportive fans across the land, thank you for your continued support…In a time when most careers seem to last a year or two I’ve been able to keep at it for more than fifteen years…Thanks to all of you…and with your blessing I plan to keep at it for years to come…thanks for allowing me to do what I love best and sharing it with you…thanks for letting me, in some small way, be a part of your life…a part of another Summer Again…
Wishing you all nothing but the best,
Charlie Major

When We Did Shine
|
18 May 2008
|
When We Did Shine
Saturday late at night
Conversations on the line
Reminiscing back to the times
When we did shine.
Your laughter ringing in my ear
Reminds me to when you were near
Lying side by side
When we did shine.
And Oh! How we did shine!
Like a diamond reflecting in the light
Like a star on a clear summer's night
Like a full moon sailing 'cross the sky
Oh! How we did shine,
How we did shine.
We danced around old memories
Some sweet, some bitter memories
Of days long gone by
When we did shine.
We stood at the top of a mountain crest
Made love at the Eagle's Nest
It was a time so divine
When we did shine.
And Oh! How we did shine!
Like a diamond reflecting in the light
Like a star on a clear summer's night
Like a full moon sailing 'cross the sky
Oh! How we did shine,
How we did shine.
To many it wasn't meant to be
Through fear or jealousy
It was all undermined.
When we did shine.
And in all my years
I've never cried so many tears
At leaving all we had behind
When we did shine
And Oh! How we did shine!
Like a diamond reflecting in the light
Like a star on a clear summer's night
Like a full moon sailing 'cross the sky
Oh! How we did shine,
How we did shine.
Now I know there'll surely be an end to life
And in that moment when I close my eyes
The last thought that'll cross my mind
Without a doubt will be
of the time...
When we did shine...
Oh! How We Did Shine...
From Me to You....lol.....Charlie

Have you seen an angel...
|
17 May 2008
|
If one were to believe that angels walk among us
then i met an angel yesterday
far from her heavenly home down to earth she came
disguised in mere flesh and bone.
but she couldn't hide the starlight in her eye
or the heaven in her smile
nor the sound of a voice as sweet as a song
for a mere moment in what has been a lifetime
I can say an angel stood by my side today
brightened my life, lit up my way
but as quickly as she came she went away....
does anybody know where angels go when they go.....
Oh! where does an angel go when she goes...
and does anybody know if angels have phones...

Notes from a New Year…..Jan 1st, 2008
|
03 Jan 2008
|
Firstly, and again I'd like to thank everyone for all the thoughtful birthday wishes…
Secondly …I hope this coming year unfolds in a positive way for one and all….
And now…yesterday morning the 31st, we were to depart Ottawa @ 10 am to head out to Saskatoon to play at the Dakota dunes casino for a New years Eve Party…well it has been an eventful trip…Our flight was delayed due to weather, or the captain slept in, I'm not sure which was the real story…we missed our connection and had a four hour layover in Toronto…we did get to Saskatoon at about 8pm…missed our sound check time of 4pm…Ken, our bass player's instrument didn't make it….the folks in the opening band, Jesse Farrell, were kind enough to let him use theirs…The management at the Casino treated us royally, even went out of their way to bake me a Birthday cake which they presented to me on stage…very thoughtful…the show was rocking and people were dancing and a good time was had by all…this morning's flight was scheduled for 11:30am but looking at the weather network when I got up I realized we were in for more delays…we finally got out of Saskatoon at about 2pm….had to change our connector in Toronto…so they put us on the plane at 6:15pm…oops…no pilots…I guess we'll have to wait for them...2 ½ hours later we left Toronto and finally made it to Ottawa…oops…no luggage…seems they didn't have time to transfer it in the hours we sat at the gate in Toronto…so we filled out our missing bags claim and they say we should get it in two to three days, probably via London or Paris!!!...the one constant in it all was that we all managed to keep a sense of humor about it all and we had a lot of great laughs…there was only one low point when some one was starting to get frustrated and I reminded them that we could be in Kenya, Darfur or some other place in the world other than this great country of ours and that our troubles were minimal comparatively…it all came back together…mostly we had to endure lack of sleep, poor eating times, and bad jokes…that still made us laugh…thanks to all that came out to the show….it's great to finally make it home…funny how a simple two day journey can feel like a weeks adventure…well it's on to 2008 and looking forward to so many good things…I woke up breathing this morning, I can walk, talk, sing, write and entertain…and live in a land where we are truly free…a commodity that seems to be growing scarcer every day in this world….so as we start this new year count your blessings and thank whatever God or Being you believe in for all that you have been given in this world for there is much to be thankful for…even lost luggage!!!
All the Best, Charlie Major

Notes from a December’s Eve… Dec. 19th, 2007
|
19 Dec 2007
|
I’m dreaming of a white…no need to dream…we’ve had the most snow in December since recorded history, with more to come…but that’s alright with me, I say bring it on…I guess I’m just a Northern boy at heart, and part of that is snow…playing in it, walking in it, driving in it, digging out of it, skiing, skating, snowmobiling, throwing snowballs, making snowmen, making snow angels, just plain enjoying it….
I was driving home last night from a school function for the boys and I was noticing all the lights on the houses that I past…it’s such a wondrous sight…and I felt that there was a message in the displays I saw…the people who put up the lights went to a lot of trouble and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope and optimism in their work at this time of the year…the world is in conflict and has been since the dawn of man yet at this festive time of year we can still find some ray of hope and love…all we need do is find a way to translate that to the rest of the year…
At this time I would like to take the opportunity to thank every one who has and keeps supporting me in my musical career…as we leave this year behind and head off into a new one I wish you all the Merriest of Christmases and may the New Year be a satisfying and prosperous one for you…I for one am looking forward to the opportunity of crossing the country once again and sharing my songs with every one …
On one last note I would like to explain that the websites I have running on Myspace, Facebook and charliemajor .com are a way for me to keep in touch, and vice versa, with you the fans…but, alas I don’t have time to answer all the e-mails and messages I receive…I try to answer some but it would be a labor intensive job if I were to try and keep up with it all and then I wouldn’t have time to do what I should be doing, music!!...so thanks for all the invites, slayers, kisses, drinks etc…etc..but I will not respond to them so please take no offence…every one has a different agenda and as I mentioned mine is to keep people informed of what’s going on with my professional and sometimes personal life…And with that I’ll say it again,
MERRY CHRISTMAS
HAPPY NEW YEAR
WISHING YOU ALL MY BEST
CHARLIE MAJOR
