KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME
08 Jun 2009

LEAVING IS A HARD THING TO DO

WHEN IT'S OUT OF YOUR HANDS

GOODBYE'S A HARD THING TO SAY

WHEN YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

BUT HAVE NO FEAR MY DARLING

DON'T SHED NO TEARS MY DARLING

AS YOU STAND OUT THERE ON THE BRINK

I'LL BE FOLLOWING YOU SOONER THAN YOU THINK

SO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME

LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER AND YOU WILL SEE

ME COMING UP BEHIND YOU

TO MEET YOU WHEREVER YOU MAY BE

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME.

WORDS CAN BE SO HARD TO FIND

WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO CATCH YOUR BREATH

HOPE IS A HARD THING TO HOLD ONTO

WHEN IT'S ALL YOU'VE GOT LEFT

BUT DON'T YOU WORRY MY DARLING

DON’T LOSE HEART MY DARLING

AS YOU STAND BY THE RIVER'S EDGE

SOON I'LL BE FOLLOWING IN YOUR STEPS

SO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME

LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER AND YOU WILL SEE

ME COMING UP BEHIND YOU

TO MEET YOU WHEREVER YOU MAY BE

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME.

TIME SLIPS OUT OF OUR HAND

LIKE A SLOW SIFTING FISTFUL OF SAND

WITH A MEANING THAT'S SO CRYSTAL CLEAR

IT'S NOT FOR A MERE MORTAL MAN

SO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME

LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER AND YOU WILL SEE

ME COMING UP BEHIND YOU

TO MEET YOU WHEREVER YOU MAY BE

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME.

Life goes on...
29 May 2009

THE WORLD WAS STILL TURNING WHEN I OPENED MY EYES
THE SUN WAS STILL BURNING IN THE EASTERN SKIES
THE WIND STILL BLEW
BIRDS STILL FLEW
AND SANG OUT THEIR SONG
THEY DON’T KNOW THAT YOU'RE GONE
AND LIFE GOES ON…

THERE’S AN EMPTINESS, A VOID IN MY SOUL
A PIECE THAT’S BEEN TAKEN FROM THE WHOLE
I RISE OUT OF BED
TRYING TO CLEAR MY HEAD
ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER
I TELL MYSELF THAT YOU'RE GONE
AND LIFE GOES ON…

OVER AND OVER WORDS OF SOLACE I HEAR
AND TIME PERHAPS WILL BRING AN END TO TEARS
BUT THOUGHTS OF YOU
GIVE ME NO CLUE
AS TO WHEN IT WILL END
I TELL MYSELF THAT I WILL BE STRONG
AND LIFE GOES ON…

BUT I WANT TO RUN ‘TIL I CAN’T BREATHE ANY MORE
‘TIL I’M LYING WASTED CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
I WANT AN ANSWER CLEAR
I WANT YOU NEAR
I WANT SO BADLY TO WAKE FROM THIS DREAM
I TELL MYSELF THAT YOU’RE GONE
AND LIFE GOES ON…

I TELL MYSELF I MUST FACE THIS HEAD ON
I TELL MYSELF NO MATTER WHAT’S COME AND GONE
THAT LIFE GOES ON…
I TELL MYSELF YOU'RE GONE
AND THAT SOMEHOW
LIFE GOES ON…

A Sad Time...

Ellie Major

Feb. 4th 1958 / May 24th,2009

                                                                        May 25th, 2009

It is with great sadness, regret and heavy heart that I share the news that my dear sister Ellie Major passed away on May 24, 2009 at the young age of fifty one after an eight month battle with lung cancer… The official obituary can be found in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper in physical form or at the end of this note…

I’m unsure if this is a proper way to proceed by announcing this online but it seems so few of us read the obituaries at our young age that I didn’t want anyone who cared to find out weeks or months down the road and feel bad for not having heard sooner…

To all my friends and fans who’ve wondered where I’ve been, why I haven’t written any blogs in months and why there has been no new music on the radio or new CD,  much of my and my families  time and thoughts have been consumed with my sister’s illness…

I will take it for granted that my family is in your thoughts and prayers and would like to thank in advance all those of you who will send condolences by e-mail keeping in mind that at this point in time it will be an impossible task to respond to you all individually…

With a tear in my eye and a stone in my heart,

                                                      Charlie Major

OBAMA
05 Nov 2008

Woke up to a brand new day today…the world has a new face…new direction…new possibilities…change is sometimes slow but in life it is a constant…everything will change sooner or later…fortunately at this juncture in time those who would have had us remain stuck in the past lost out and now must forge ahead with the more liberal of us onto new ventures and journeys into the future…to boldly go where we’ve never been before (to misquote Star Trek)…

I realize that I am a Canadian but I can’t help but feeling like a little brother to the big one to the south…and in that light today I feel a sense of elation, of accomplishment,  at having arrived at a destination who’s journey started so long ago…a difficult journey that took its toll on many along the way…it’s the end of the year 2008 and perhaps we can now say that we have truly  arrived in the 21st century…out of the shadows of the past and into the light of a brand new day…

I did shed a tear or two last night watching the results of the US election…but they were happy tears, tears of relief, tears of hope that perhaps we have conquered some of the divisiveness that has plague not only the US populace but other countries in the world…that finally we can look to our neighbors and no matter the color of their skin, no matter the difference in beliefs, we can say that we are truly in this all together and the only way to survive is to work together…there are still lots of challenges for this generation, for my kids and grandchildren, but I think we took a big step last night…that whatever we may be faced with, whatever obstacles are in front of us we can overcome…as President Obama said in his acceptance speech… Yes We Can!!!...Welcome to a new world…

Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor joins forces with Canadian Country Music star, Charlie Major and The Holmes Foundation

TORONTO--Mike Holmes, star of Holmes on Homes and Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor is proud to announce that Canadian country music star Charlie Major will be supporting The Holmes Foundation on his latest tour for his new CD release “Shadows and Light”.

Charlie Major and his manager Woody Bowles had been looking for a cause for Charlie to support. Charlie was especially interested in something that had domestic impact for Canadians—and he found it close to home. To his manager’s home, that is. Woody was the victim of a renovation nightmare—the kind The Holmes Foundation was founded to help put an end to.

The mission of The Holmes Foundation is to ensure that all residential renovation and construction in Canada is done right–the first time.

The Holmes Foundation will do this by partnering with schools, businesses and governments to raise the profile and reputation of all skilled trades in Canada, using Mike Holmes' reputation to encourage young people to pursue careers in the skilled trades and to encourage employers to hire them. In addition, The Holmes Foundation provides information on careers in the building trades and will offer scholarships and bursaries to students pursuing training in these trades.

Charlie Major has always been known as a working man's artist and this foundation—in support of the skilled trades and the working man--is a perfect fit. Major says “I am proud to be associated with a homegrown organization like as The Holmes Foundation and with Mike Holmes-- whose mission is to further the educational opportunities for young people across this great land.”

Charlie's first event with Mike Holmes was the annual Lean On Me Day, August 5, 2007 where Major performed prior to a seminar which Holmes gave at the Beacon Hill Home Depot in Calgary, AB. On September 11, Mike and Charlie were co-presenters at the Canadian Country Music Awards Show. Their skit has been called one of the highlights of the evening.

Major will be doing interviews about The Holmes Foundation, and encouraging people to donate to the organization during his shows. Proceeds from the sale, at his shows, of his latest CD, “Shadows and Light” will be donated to the Foundation. CDs are also available on the Holmes On Holmes website, www.holmesonhomes.com.
